The research of Philippe Renard is leading the stochastic characterization hydrogeology group. The aim of his research is to provide a set of techniques and softwares allowing to quantify uncertainty while accounting for conceptual geological knowledge when using models for groundwater quantity and quality management. Currently, the stochastic hydrogeology group is working on different aspects of the problem: multiple point geostatistics, geological characterization, inverse modeling, data base of statistical properties of aquifers, etc. Applications are diverse and include at the moment: contaminated site characterization, optimization of pumping schemes for desalination plant, safety of deep CO2 sequestration. In addition, Philippe Renard is currently managing editor of Hydrogeology Journal and president of the geoENVia international association. |
