Traveling to Bern

At the very heart of Europe, Bern is easily reachable by plane and train. Bern is close to the three major Swiss airports: Zurich, Basel, and Geneva, all reachable by train within just over one hour (direct journey from the airport to the center of Bern). Moreover, the airport of Bern, just 15 minutes from the city, offers a limited but useful number of connections (notably with London, Munich, and Paris). The airports of Zurich, Basel, and Geneva are served by the major international airlines as well as by several low-cost companies.

Bern is well connected to many other cities, national and international, by the excellent Swiss Federal Railways system. The train station is in the city center, within walking distance from hotels, restaurants, and the conference venue.

With its central location within Switzerland, Bern makes an excellent base for day trips to many of the country’s big attractions.

Intercontinental Travelers

There are many intercontinental flights to Zurich airport. Direct trains leave every 30 minutes from within the airport to downtown Bern.

You might also consider landing directly in Bern after a stop in another European airport.

European Travelers

There are many flights from most European airports to Zurich and Geneva. Both offer direct trains leaving from within the airport to downtown Bern. Zurich is slightly closer, while Geneva offer more low-cost flights (main hub of EasyJet). Basel airport is another convenient option.

You can also land directly in Bern depending or your city of departure.

If you come from neighboring countries, the Swiss Federal Railways if probably the simplest and most convenient option. Bern is reachable by fast trains from several major cities (e.g., Paris, Frankfurt) in less than 4 hours. You might also consider taking a night train.
